Diana Santos
Diana Santos currently lives with her aunt and uncle in their family home. She pays them 22% of her monthly income for rent that includes one bedroom and a bath that she shares with the family. Living with family has been Diana’s lot in life. Her parents live in Mexico and she has never lived with them. She has lived with various relatives since she was born. She says that she was moved around and lived two or three years in each place. Diana is desperate for stability and a “home.”
Diana has been working for two years at the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court. Also, she is going to college. She states, “Finishing college is one of my priorities.” Diana says her hobbies and interests include, “Being around people, meeting new people, being with my family, broadcasting (radio, television, pictures) and walking.”
Diana’s commitment to the Habitat program can best be summed up in her own words. She states, “Achieving the goal of owning a home is very important to me. It is an opportunity to grow and share. I believe in my dreams and goal in life. I believe that effort and hard work makes you a stronger and much more intelligent person. Nothing comes free. Sometimes we have to suffer through life to obtain what we want. When we finally make it we appreciate every single step of the hard and long road.”
