Description
This study of
Exodus began in February and continues through May. The Rev. Robin Lyn Valdez, Emmanuel’s Senior
Pastor, leads. Here is Robin’s
description of the study:
We call this second book of the Bible
“Exodus.” The word, according to the dictionary, refers to the departure
of a large number of people. The name signifies the great liberating act
of God on behalf of Israel. “Knowing” plays a large role in Exodus.
We will find a pharaoh who does not “know” Joseph. From that ignorance
will flow fear, which leads to oppression and suffering. The sister and the mother
of baby Moses will be among those who are “in the know.” We will see that
neither the good guys, the bad guys, nor the powerful people necessarily belong
to the groups we might expect.
Like Genesis, Exodus can be a wild ride through times of spiritual
dryness and questioning. Like any good journey, it has a beginning and an end
and is a powerful witness for each of us as we travel down our own spiritual
road.
